Rachenitza – Rossitza Milevska, the jazz harp in freedom

Rossitza Milevska, French-Bulgarian jazz harpist, playing harp during a studio session.

My new single  Rachenitza, marks a new step in my journey as a jazz harpist.
With this piece, I explore the meeting point between harp jazz Bulgarian rhythms, a free and vibrant music that truly reflects who I am.
It opens a new chapter in my sound: somewhere between tradition and improvisation, roots and freedom.

There are rhythms that never leave the body or the mind.
Asymmetric measures that pulse like a heartbeat.
My heart has carried them for as long as I can remember and Rachenitza is one of them.

Rossitza Milevska - Rachenitza, jazz harp single inspired by Bulgarian rhythms, 2025

I am very happy to share this new single with you.
It’s a piece that reconnects me to my origins ,to the richness of Bulgarian music that mosaic of rhythms and colors that has always inspired me.
Among them, the rachenitza has been with me since childhood, living somewhere between my hands and my memory, between moments we love to recall and relive.

With this track, I wanted to let the harp dance.
to bring it into the world of jazz while keeping the deep pulse of my roots. That Balkan energy finds its way between thoughts, between concerts, always present, always in my heart.

Rachenitza explores that fine line between structure and freedombetween Bulgarian pulsation and jazz improvisation.

Alongside me Franck Le Donne (bass) and Cédric Le Donne (drums) bring their energy and sensitivity — a close-knit trio, ecorded at Studio 26 in Antibes, France with Fred Betin behind the console. Fred Betin.

The song was mixed and mastered by Mihail Dichev to Leon Audio Studio, Bulgaria.

This single is an independent production, born from a simple desire: to create freely, without filters, with sincerity.

« In RachenitzaThe harp becomes rhythm, breathing and dialogue. »

And like in a Bulgarian dance, the “choro”that circle where anyone can join without knowing the steps, it’s enough to follow the good vibrations and intentions. Little by little, everyone starts to move together. The music becomes alive, shared no matter where we come from.
Little by little, everyone starts dancing together.
Music becomes alive, shared no matter where it comes from.

In the studio, everything happened very naturally: one take, one glance, one smile - and the piece took shape..
That lightness, that collective joy . it’s what I love most about music.

Rachenitza is a piece that moves, that breathes, that plays.
I hope you’ll enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed playing it.

I am deeply grateful to be able to create and record my music with my harp « Camac »I’m deeply grateful to Camac Harps for allowing me to create and record my music with an instrument of such freedom and sonic beauty
